Mucilage is a thick gluey substance produced by plants to help store and transfer food (i.e. cacti) and and retain water during seed germination (i.e. cocoa seeds).

Mucilage contains numerous beneficial properties helping soothe irritation, coughs and improving hydration. Mucilage also can be used to thicken and form gels great for skin, hair and medical formulations.
